The manufacturing process of sulphate pulp also creates a range of by-products for sale.
- Energy products:
Our pulp mills produce electricity more than they use. This green electricity produced by use of bio fuels is sold to industrial and other users.
- In the beginning of pulp process the fibre wood is barked and used as bio fuel in the solid fuel boiler. The bark in excess of the mill's own requirements is sold as fuel to other energy users. .
- Heat is sold to integrated paper mills as a process steam or as district heat to the surrounding community.
- Other by-products:
The pulp manufacturing process causes the amber present in softwood to separate into either tall oil or turpentine. These are versatile raw materials used in the chemical industry. Tall oil and turpentine can be converted for use in many different end-use areas.
