Rauma

The Rauma mill went on stream in 1996, and it was the first mill in the world built solely for the production of chlorine-free TCF pulp. Even though the mill was built and started up as a separate company, it has always been an integral part of the Botnia pulp group.
The Rauma mill changed its bleaching system from TCF to ECF in summer 2007.

Grade specialisation The Rauma mill is specialised in the production of two pulp grades: reinforcement pulp suitable for magazine paper manufacture, and bleached tissue paper pulp.

Customers The owners’ mills and market pulp customers. Export’s share of production is 60 %, and the main market areas are Finland, Asia, the UK, Italy and Germany..

History

  • 1996 The mill goes on stream.
  • In 1996, some 250 000 tonnes were produced.
  • 1999 Production capacity was raised to 570 000 t/a, and the production exceeded 500 000 tonnesfor the first time.
