Botnia recognises its responsibility as a member of the society in which it operates. We show our responsibility by acting acording to the principles of sustainable development and by taking into consideration the long-term effects of our actions towards the future and wellbeing of the surrounding society.
We Operate Locally
The Botnia mills enjoy a significant role as employer and valuable member of the business community at each mill site. It is our responsibility as Botnians to maintain our competitive edge and sound economic foundation and take care of our environmental responsibilities.
Our actions are visible in many different ways in the communities where we operate. When considering both the direct and indirect employment effects of a pulp mill, we can say its econimic importance is far reacing.
Cooperation with local schools is also seen in many, often longterm ways. Many of our mills cooperate with several local schools.
Botnia Acts Efficiently
Botnia is a financially solid company with sound business practices. A strong financial standing and competitiveness ensure our ability to develop the company and to weather the cyclical fluctuations of our business. Our ability to compete has been improved by acquiring greater cost efficiency through grade specialisation and enhanced manufacturing processes, as well as through investing in environmental protection and the continuous and systematic training of our personnel.
The further education of our employees is an integral part of our business strategy. Motivated and knowledgeable employees are essential to our business, and we are doing our very best to make Botnians proud of their company.
Our Shared Environment
Paying attention to environmental concerns comes naturally to us; it is, therefore, the responsibility of each and every Botnian to do their share to protect the environment, in addition to performing the other duties in their job description. Responsible and continuing environmental policy ensures our ability to to act both locally and globally.
An active, open, and anticipatory approach to environmental communications is an integral part of responsible management of environmental issues. The environmental interest groups most important to us are, in fact, the inhabitants of the mill site and neighbouring communities, our own personnel, our customers, and the environmental officials.
